AI round-up: 7 to 21 October 2026

October brought three big AI updates. Google released Gemini 4 Argon for paying Gemini users, OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT worldwide, and Anthropic opened a waitlist for Claude Duet, an assistant that works in the background. Two of the three can already be used in Malaysia today. Here is what each one is and what it means for a small business.

Google: Gemini 4 Argon

On 13 October 2026 Google started rolling out its new model, Gemini 4 Argon, to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app, worldwide. Google describes it as built for complex work from start to finish, such as reading a long financial report or turning scattered notes into a slide deck.

OpenAI: GPT-6 in ChatGPT

On 7 October 2026 OpenAI announced that GPT-6 is rolling out globally in ChatGPT, together with what it calls Intelligent UI. In OpenAI's words, answers now come faster and can include visuals and interactive parts you use directly in the chat.

Anthropic: Claude Duet (not in Malaysia yet)

On 21 October 2026 Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet, an app where Claude watches your connected work apps, sends a short morning brief, and messages you only when something needs your attention. It checks with you before acting for you. For now it is limited to Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the United States, through a waitlist.

What this means for you

  1. If you already pay for Google AI Pro or ChatGPT, open the app and check which model it offers; the new versions are rolling out now.
  2. Try them on real but low-risk work first, such as drafting a quotation email or summarising a long PDF, and check the answer before you send anything.
  3. Do not paste customer personal data, bank details or passwords into any AI tool unless your company has read the tool's privacy terms and agreed it is allowed.
  4. AI agents that act for you, such as Claude Duet, can reach your email and files. Connect only the apps you need, and keep the "ask before acting" settings on.
  5. Questions about connecting AI tools to your company email or Google Workspace? Contact our support team.
