macOS 27.2 security update: update office Macs now
MyCERT, Malaysia's computer emergency team, has asked all Mac users and offices to install Apple's latest macOS updates as soon as possible. macOS Golden Gate 27.2 alone fixes 263 security flaws. Update Macs to Golden Gate 27.2, Tahoe 26.7.2 or Sequoia 15.8.2. Macs on an older macOS than Sequoia no longer get these fixes.
What was fixed?
Apple released the updates on 26 October 2026. MyCERT says macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 fixes 213 flaws and macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 fixes 197. Safari 27.2 is also out for Sequoia and Tahoe.
The fixes cover flaws that could let a harmful app gain full control of the Mac, get past Gatekeeper (the check that warns you about apps from unknown sources), record keystrokes, or use the camera without permission. Some are in Screen Sharing and Remote Management, which many offices turn on for IT support. Others are in Safari's web engine, where a harmful web page could run code.
Apple has not said any of these flaws are being used in attacks. MyCERT warns that, with the details now public, Macs that are not updated face more risk, especially from password-stealing malware that targets Macs.
Who needs to act?
- Anyone using a Mac at work or at home.
- Offices that turn on Screen Sharing or Remote Management for IT support.
- Owners of Macs that cannot install macOS Sequoia or later. These Macs no longer receive security fixes and should be upgraded or replaced.
What to do
- On each Mac, open the Apple menu, then System Settings, General, Software Update, and install the update shown.
- Restart the Mac when asked. The fix only works after the restart.
- If your Macs are managed by an IT vendor, ask them to set the minimum macOS versions in their device management tool (27.2, 26.7.2 or 15.8.2, depending on the Mac).
- Turn off Screen Sharing and Remote Management on Macs that do not need them (System Settings, General, Sharing).
- Staff who handle very sensitive data can turn on Lockdown Mode under System Settings, Privacy and Security, as MyCERT suggests for people at higher risk.
How SyncTech can help
